A woman-owned family business for 60 years, PBE designs, develops, and manufactures high-performance absorbency products. From our two manufacturing locations in northwest Ohio, we provide solutions for applications in the areas of healthcare, consumer, and engineered products. PBE strives to create and maintain a positive work environment that supports and encourages all of our associates to excel.

Complementing those business units is a long-standing relationship with Gelok International, a premier manufacturer of low profile, super absorbent laminates and composites.

OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
Carol Stocking
Co-CEOCarol has overseen product and corporate marketing, and has been integral in the multiple facilities expansions the company has undergone during her time as Co-CEO.
Carol has a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Michigan State University and has brought a focus on human-centered design to the layout, office spaces, and common areas of the PBE facilities. Carol and Chuck were recognized by Ernst and Young as 2017 Entrepreneurs of the Year for Michigan and Northwest Ohio.
Chuck Stocking
Co-CEO
Chuck is a native of North Central Illinois, a graduate of Principia College in Elsah, Illinois and obtained his J.D. degree from Northwestern University School of Law. Following graduation, Chuck served as V.P. and House Counsel for General Binding Corporation. He spent a number of years in turn-around consulting with a heavy emphasis on strategic planning and execution. Chuck brought his extensive background in marketing, sales, and operational leadership to PBE in 1975 and began full-time leadership of the company in 1994. He has a passion for dramatically improving the quality of life for caregivers and care recipients while eliminating waste in healthcare.
As Co-CEO of Principle Business Enterprises (PBE), Chuck and Carol were recognized by Ernst and Young as 2017 Entrepreneurs of the Year for Michigan and Northwest Ohio.
Chuck is actively engaged in public service through leadership positions in a wide array of organizations. As a Rotarian for over 40 years, he has served as a District Governor for Rotary International, President of Toledo Rotary, co-founded Partners in Education and MESA. Chuck has also served on the Board of Trustees of the Toledo Symphony, 577 Foundation, Mental Health Clinic of Wood County, Toledo Community Foundation, Perrysburg Area Historic Museum, First Church of Christ Scientist (Maumee) and the Multi-Faith Council of NWOH.
Andrew Stocking
President
Andrew Stocking, Ph.D., is acting President and a member of PBE’s Board of Directors. He joins PBE as part of the third-generation after a distinguished career in engineering, technology, nonprofits, and government. At PBE, Andrew is passionate about improving the lives of customers through best-in-class products, PBE associates through an innovative and transformative benefit program, and the surrounding community through corporate engagement. Andrew is committed to American manufacturing in the midwest.
Prior to leading PBE, Andrew held a succession of crucial roles within the federal government, including Senior Advisor for Economics and Energy Security at the Department of Energy and Market Design Economist at the Congressional Budget Office in the healthcare unit and microeconomic studies unit. In those roles, Andrew contributed to policy debates about a variety of topics, including Medicare, Medicaid, clean power, auction design, oil and gas development, prescription drug benefits, the strategic petroleum reserve, Chinese trade policy, electricity markets, and competition in healthcare.
In recognition of his work on energy security at the Department of Energy, Andrew was awarded the Secretary of Energy's Honor Award in 2016. Andrew was also Vice President of Business Development and Vice President of Nonprofit Strategy at Care2.com, a Silicon Valley web startup. Andrew has been an adjunct professor in Economics at the University of Maryland and is currently adjunct professor at Bowling Green State University in the business school.
Andrew has a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, master's degree in civil engineering, both from Stanford University and a master's degree and PhD in Resource Economics from the University of Maryland.
Houston Legg
Vice President,Acute Care
Houston Legg is Vice President in charge of Acute Care. He brings nearly 25 years of experience in the medical and healthcare industry to PBE.
Houston’s passion for providing reliable and innovative products to people in a time of need led him to create and build PBE’s wound care division, and stabilize and expand the footwear business. Houston’s work leading Acute Care enabled him to cut costs while providing more jobs for American workers.
Houston holds a BA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
